My beer fridge is cooler than your beer fridge! The mayo and bottled water are all displaced and the shelves are full on sagging from all of that tasty local beer. I literally drove around all over Tallahassee to each of the breweries and tried to pick up something that they’re best known for, and also one of their newly released seasonals.
I’ve always loved beer, but it was never my go to (I’m a bourbon girl). Now, I find myself “going to” it much more often than just my Corona on the beach in days past. I’m definitely developing a taste for what this town has to offer, and I’m loving it! Not only do our Tallahassee breweries serve up some amazing brews, but they’re all such feel good spaces. Great beer and great vibes! Perhaps there’s a cause and effect to that, one leading to another, but alas, I digress.
In my game day beer fridge you’ll find Proof Warpath, Proof EightFive-O, Proof Mango Wit Belgian Witbier, Proof Munich Style Lager, Lake Tribe Field Day, Lake Tribe Satsuma Wheat, Ology Fruited Gose Double Passionfruit, Ology Berry Lactose Berliner, DEEP Spear Pressure British Golden Ale, and DEEP Grapefruit Reef.
What I loved about working on this article is that it has nothing to do with competition amongst locals, but competition between local vs. big brands… and guess what I’ve learned since I started our Tallahassee Foodies group and have now tried several local establishments around town, local is often far better than those big brands or chains. I don’t mean to sound like a “locals only” snob, because I still hit that drive through on a quick lunch break or when my car is full of kids, because that’s real life. I’ve learned that there is often a much higher quality in terms of food, beverage and service when you “eat local”.
