I’m thrilled to share a little inside scoop on From Jane, a new neighborhood bakery coming soon to Midtown Tallahassee. The concept is still so fresh that we only have a few sneak-peek images for now, but its owners have shared plenty of delicious details about what is taking shape behind the scenes.

From Jane is expected to open in early October at 1122 Thomasville Road in the Manor at Midtown plaza, directly across the street from its sister business, Dear Sunday Cafe. The bakery will move into the former home of Sliders: A Sandwich Revolution, trading the sandwich shop’s sliders and fries for artisan breads, flaky croissants, custom cakes and plenty more.

Inspired by the charm of a traditional European boulangerie, From Jane will focus on the simple pleasure of beautifully made food, whether guests are picking up a baguette for dinner, ordering a cake for a celebration or stopping for a pastry and matcha.

The menu will include artisan breads, croissants, morning buns, éclairs, tarts, pastries, custom cakes, grab-and-go sandwiches and seasonal offerings. Fresh flowers will also be available, making it possible to leave with a pastry and bouquet for a birthday or special gathering.

Their offerings are incredible: beverages are expected to include matcha, cold brew, champagne and other specialty drinks. All baked goods will be made in-house using traditional techniques and high-quality ingredients, with an emphasis on freshness, craftsmanship and consistency. Although the storefront is new, the owners already have experience producing breads, pastries and desserts for several local businesses.

“We currently produce breads, pastries, and desserts for several local businesses but opening a storefront allows us to bring the products we already create, directly to our customers,” co-owner Tiffany Little said.

From Jane is the latest concept from the five friends and business partners behind Dear Sunday: Aysia Sylvia, Tiffany Little, Courtney Atkins, Jackie Cook and Lelia Wolfe. The women’s roots stretch across the region, from Tallahassee and Crawfordville to Bainbridge, Georgia, while Sylvia is originally from New Smyrna Beach. Together, they share a love of great food, beautiful spaces, embracing their community and creating meaningful experiences.

The bakery’s name offers a clever connection to Dear Sunday. If “Dear Sunday” opens a letter, “From Jane” signs it. “The two ends of a letter, two different ways to spend your mornings,” Little said. The name Jane was chosen primarily because the owners liked the way it sounded, but it also carries an unexpected personal connection: Jane happens to be one of their grandmothers’ middle names, making it a subtle tribute to her.

While the two businesses share owners and a commitment to quality food and hospitality, they are being developed as distinctly different concepts. Dear Sunday was created for slow mornings and lingering with friends and loved ones.
