Travel through the decades as Countdown Downtown returns to Cascades Park as Tallahassee’s premier Bicentennial event! The best party in 200 years will kick off at Cascades Park with two firework shows, two incredible bands, feats of strength, illuminated dancers, photo booths, over a dozen local vendors, food trucks, and more! It’s a free, family-friendly event, and everyone in our community is welcome!
From 6-10pm Visit Tallahassee presents TWO fireworks shows, one at 7:45 and one at 9:45- and two bands who will rock the night away. Brown Goose takes the stage 6-8pm with a set list that includes something for everyone from fans of Shrek to MGMT- several of the members also play with the P Funk! This nationally touring band provides an incredible experience for our community- Brown Goose plays South by Southwest, and now our community can experience them on their home stage. Lili Forbes will bring a twelve-piece band to play from 8-10 pm, The Department of State’s Folk Art Award Winning Musician will have a full family affair- with her talented twin sister. Their set list will wow guests of every age with a high-octane explosive brass section- the crowd will be awe-struck by the fun this performance will give attendees. It is going to be the best party in 200 years!
You won’t believe how we’re dropping the ball in Tallahassee to ring in the new year- You’ll want to see Iron Vault Strength from the Tallahassee Highland Games in Action- they’ll be some of the strongest people in the world tossing a 200 lb ball to celebrate 200 years of our community. They twist horseshoes with their bare hands, they lift thousands of pounds to rival world records- and they’ll be performing at our event! Tallahassee State College Dance Company will illuminate the crowds with two performances that will light up Cascades Park! Our community is welcome to grab delicious food, beverages, and goods from over a dozen food trucks and vendors- or they can bring their own! Guests are also welcome to bring their own chairs, blankets, food and beverages. Magic Moments will have 360 photo experiences and a photo kiosk to capture the fun- and the community is invited to commemorate the bicentennial with a resolution wall and swag!
Countdown Downtown will end at 10 PM, allowing for attendees to determine how they want to spend the rest of their evening- whether that be at a bar or nearby event into the late hours of the night, or at home in their pajamas watching the ball drop on their TV. Other restaurants in the area that will be celebrating include Charlie Park, The Edison, Hayward House, Bar 1903, Governors Club, Chucks Fish, The Huntsman, and Eve on Adams.
Hosted by the Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority, presented by Visit Tallahassee, this Bicentennial event would not be possible without the City of Tallahassee Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs, AARP, Hotel Indigo, Charlie Park, Proof Brewing, and more.
