Twenty four All Access Foodies joined together for an incredible evening of food, beverage, and community at J’s Asian Street Food!
Have you ever been to J’s Asian? This beautiful establishment located in the former El Cocinero space at 402 East Tennessee Street is one of my favorite restaurants in Tallahassee, and was at the very top of my “Secret Dinner Wish List”. Serving traditional Asian street food, this is where I land whenever someone says it’s my turn to pick where we’re going for lunch. This was my first time having dinner there, and I love how the place lights up and sparkles at night!
Like the previous, this Secret Dinner also sold out in under a minute, unbelievable!!! I’m so very grateful to all of our Tallahassee Foodies All Access supporters.

The ultimate goal of our Secret Dinner Series is to bring a new, adventurous concept to Tallahassee, introduce our All Access Foodies subscribers to restaurants that are either new to them, or menu items they may have never tried, all while spending time together at one long table, building community. We had such a wonderful evening!
Our Secret Dinner At J’s Asian Street Food
I love that every Secret Dinner we’ve hosted has similar elements of beautifully plated courses delivered at the same time, an intro to the restaurant and each dish by the chef or owner, and a community experience. Aside from these elements of our Secret Dinner exclusive format, we also try to customize the experience a bit, per the character of each establishment.

J’s Asian absolutely killed it at our latest Secret Dinner! I thought that our long community table would be in their main dining room, but to my surprise, they closed off the entire bar area so that we could have our own private space, and of course we all very much enjoyed our proximity to the bar. We fit right in to this space, just enough room for a private dinner party experience.
The beauty of these dinners, besides the adventure of trying a place that may be “new to you” is, if you have previously dined at the establishment before, you may find yourself trying menu items that are “new to you”! Many times, I hear our guests exclaiming, “I would have never ordered that, but it’s fantastic”, and therein lies the adventure! As many times as I’ve been to J’s, everything on this Secret Dinner menu was “new to me”!
I haven’t been to the countries featured on J’s menu, but so many people in our Tallahassee Foodies Facebook Group tout this establishment as the most authentic in town! All I know is every dish I’ve ever had there is so incredibly tasty, and our Secret Dinner menu was no exception. They offered up a tasting from each section of their menu, from appetizers to mains, a red bean ice cream, and two signature cocktails! Their cocktails are delicious, and strong – after my first of the two offered up with this dinner, I nearly had a tough time intro’ing the establishment before our first course came out lol!
J’s manager Jacob was holding down our entire party, with some help from the entire J’s team for waters and course drop ins. We were all given our choice of two signature cocktails included with our ticket, and I’m pretty sure Jacob made all 20 before our first course hit the table, while also delivering food and making sure everyone was taken care of, followed by another 20 cocktails shortly after. He made everything look so easy!
It was also wonderful to meet the owner Jamie Li! We hope to have other fun get togethers at J’s, or any of her other establishments including Sakura Sushi & Grill and Midtown Noodles Bar!
There are truly no words to express how wonderful everything was – the delicious food, the tasty creative cocktails, the friendly service, the beautiful decor, just an overall amazing hospitality moment from beginning to end! Everything was so super delicious, we were all wow’ed by each course! Every single bite was pure joy.
