Our Cafe de Martin Secret Dinner was amazing! This location was high on my “Secret Dinner wishlist,” so I’m incredibly grateful for their warm hospitality that made for a memorable evening.

Peru is a true foodie capital of the world, renowned for its rich culinary heritage and diverse flavors. From the highlands to the coast, the country’s cuisine reflects its beautiful culture and history. If you’re looking to explore unique and delicious dishes, Café de Martín should be at the top of your list – they’ll deliver the most authentic Peruvian flavors, without taking a flight to Peru.

Our Secret Dinner Series

The Tallahassee Foodies Secret Dinner series is designed to foster community amongst our All Access Foodies supporters – a small group of patrons seated together at one long table, while also serving up a Chef’s table experience and an element of mystery that makes each dinner special.

The location remains a secret, known only to myself and the establishment during the fun planning process, until it is revealed to guests the morning of the event! Later that day upon arrival, the prix fixe menu is unveiled, making the dining experience an adventurous discovery from start to finish.

Our unique Secret Dinner experience is enhanced by the owner personally welcoming diners and providing an introduction to the restaurant, offering insights not typically available on a casual visit. Complementing this moment, the Chef details each course as it arrives at the table in a beautifully synchronized presentation.

Our Café de Martín Secret Dinner

On May 15th, I had the pleasure of hosting a Café de Martín Secret Dinner. From the moment you step into this festive establishment, you’re greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home, a beautiful home in Peru.

The decor combines vibrant pieces, many hand-imported from Peru, with lush greenery, creating an inviting space perfect for a casual dinner or special occasion. Café de Martín has swiftly become a cherished spot in Tallahassee’s dining scene.

In light of recent events in our capital city, I am so appreciative that Café de Martín contributed 30% of our dinner proceeds, amounting to a generous $300, to Second Harvest of the Big Bend. It’s heartening to see their dedication to supporting our community in such difficult times.

Our Custom Café de Martín Secret Dinner Menu

Our custom Secret Dinner menu was a treasure trove of Peruvian culinary delights. Each dish was crafted with care, using fresh, high-quality ingredients that showcase the vibrant flavors of Peru.

Native Potato Bread
Soft and slightly tangy, the Native Potato Bread was the perfect start, offering a comforting introduction to the evening. I was obsessed with this delicious bread!

Assorted Mini Causitas
Topped with octopus, prawn, and chicken, these mini causitas, a beloved Peruvian dish, features layers of a yellow mashed potato base, creamy avocado, and boiled egg adding richness, each topping bringing its own unique twist of bold flavors. The octopus was tender, the prawn succulent, and the chicken savory, making each bite a new experience.

Oyster Ceviche
With oysters from Forgotten Bay Oysters in a Yellow Chili Ceviche Sauce, this dish was a zesty delight. The freshness of the oysters combined with the tangy and slightly spicy sauce was a refreshing taste of the sea.

Signature Cocktail

Pisco Sour, the National Drink of Peru
The Pisco Sour was a highlight, with its blend of Pisco, the liquor of Peru, egg whites, lime juice, and sugar, topped with bitters. Pisco is distilled, similar to bourbon, but made with grapes. It was smooth, slightly tart, and so refreshing, making it a perfect pairing for the rich flavors of the meal.

Warning – the Picsco Sour is the friendliest drink ever. One of these tasty beverages will turn your foodie friends into besties, and you’ll start passing out hugs to everyone by the end of the night.

White or Red Wine of our Choice Throughout Dinner

Main Course

Quinoto in a Mild Yellow Chili Sauce with Ossobuco
This quinoa dish, bathed in a mild yellow chili pepper cream sauce, was topped with flavorful ossobuco (the tender cut from the cow’s leg) . The rich, creamy sauce complemented the tender meat perfectly, creating a hearty and satisfying main course that was both comforting and so unique.

Crunchy Lucuma
The Lucuma Cheesecake was a visually stunning and delightful end to the meal. Lucuma, known as golden berries in Peru (you can purchase them at Whole Foods), offered a unique, sweet flavor that was so creamy with a slightly crunchy topping. It was a perfect blend of textures and tastes, making it a memorable grand finale.

Our community of local food aficionados continues to grow. If you haven’t yet attended one of our Secret Dinners, I hope you’ll Join the Swarm to jump in on all the fun! Please note that seating is limited and not guaranteed.
